Tips & Tricks
Here are some tips and tricks for our Classy Tails product range:
Pet Strollers
* When closing the zippers be sure to stretch the top canopy all the way forward. If you can imagine trying to zip the pet stroller while it is half closed, will strain the zipper. For those not familiar with what the term 'canopy' means, in terms of pet strollers, it is the top of the carrier sitting area. For example the 3 wheeler cruiser and heavy duty 3 wheeler have a three tier canopy. This means that it moves back and forth in 3 sections. So if you are trying to zip the stroller when it is in 2nd section, it will be difficult to zip.
* Wheels and material are replaceable. We sell our spare parts at minimal cost.
* When assembling the pet stroller wheels, we find it easier if you literally turn your stroller upside (try not to damage it in the meantime please) and ensure the canopy is back towards the snack tray (if there is one). Wheels should be inserted on each end at the same time so they are level with one another. Fitting one at a time will put strain on the axel.
* If unsure whether your pet will fit comfortably in the pet stroller, we always suggest getting chalk or tape and draw a line on the ground with the measurements of the pet stroller / trailer. Then place your pet in the area and determine whether they will fit in comfortable. Remember your pet will not like to sit upright all the time. They should be able to curl / stretch out comfortably.
* When fitting multiple pets (or even the one) in a pet stroller / trailer, if their body weight is close or at the maximum weight limit, you should consider the next model up.
* Pet strollers are not a substitute for exercise.
* Always use the safety built in leash, just in case your pet unexpectedly decides to jump out. A serious injury may occur as a result.
Pet Carrier Bag
* Ensure the carrier weight capacity will be suitable for your pet.
* As also indicated in the pet stroller section, to ensure your pet will fit in comfortably in the carrier bag draw a line with chalk on the floor and insert your pet in it. This will help you decide whether they will be nice and snug.
* Great for puppy / kitten security. Front carrier bags will assist with separation anxiety.
* Most of our pet carrier bags have an embossed mesh which is perfect for pets with sharp claws or teeth, including ferrets. It is a durable, heavy duty mesh.
Trailers
* Always travel safely. Just remember your pet sitting in the back of the trailer will not appreciate burn outs. :-)
* If you have a fairly long dog, e.g. corgi or daschund type of breed, ensure that your pet has enough room to move 360 from the front to the back. They will need to exit from the back of the stroller. Alternatively you could always remove them yourself, but whichever option just make sure your pet will be comfortable.
Number one tip - beware of copy cats.
