A few tips for
Easing your Pet into the Pet stroller / trailer
When the pet stroller / trailer arrives, people tend to be super excited and sometimes forget to ease their pet into it. Not all dogs are super confident, so we always advise to take it easy when introducing the pet stroller / trailer to your pet/s..
There are number of ways you can do this:
- Open the parcel with your pet so they can be curious.
- Erect the cabin upright – and lock into place to ensure safety.
- Stabilise the cabin area so it does not move on the ground.
- Insert treats, toys or blanket in the pet stroller / trailer.
- Let your dog decide whether they want to go in it or not.
- Anxious dogs may need some assistance with getting familiar with the pet stroller / trailer first.
Once your pet/s are comfortable with the pet stroller / trailer in the stationary position
- Assemble the wheels on the frame – without them in it.
- Insert the handle bar to enable movement.
- Teach your pet to enter from the back and not from the front.
- Front entry is not recommended as legs can get caught between the wheels and frame.
- Encourage your pet/s to lay or sit.
- Fasten your pet with the built in lead to ensure they do not exit whilst on the move.
- Close all zippers and open the top hood for them to poke their heads out or look at you.
- With slow movements proceed walking and encourage them with reference to your equivalent of ‘walkies’.
- Keep an eye on your pet’s body language to engage their comfort levels.
- Always remind yourself that this is more for them than you – so please be patient.
- This is not a race, so take it easy.
Some pets are super stars and do not need as much guidance.
You are the best person to know how to deal with the introduction.
Have fun, be patient and go on as many adventures as you can!
